Silent Reflections

I woke up this morning just laying there thinking. Ever do that ? It was rare for me as I seldom get to do that. Life is such a rush and so many things I want to get done, that generally I just get up quick and get started when I'm home. Of course its in my make up. Sleep to me is a waste of time , but a necessary thing. I was laying there contemplating how very imperative it is to just get alone and think and pray. No wonder we lose our creative powers. We cannot hear from God in a rush. He is not in a hurry so we might as well just slow down and take time for him. As I travel around I can see why people don't get alone. There is no where to go to be alone. I was crossing the Arizona dessert last week and it was wall to wall traffic. Any where you go today, even in a country setting , your going to see someone out riding around or going somewhere. My greatest times of creativity or hearing from God is my getting alone some where with him. I encourage you today to shut the world down in your life as much as possible and be refreshed.     God Bless!!

There Is Treasure

Proverbs 21:20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise: but a foolish man spendeth it up.

That verse is full of revelation. It speaks of people anointed by the Holy Spirit with great ideas [ treasure to be desired ] and oil [ life in their ideas ] but usually they spend it up on wrong decisions out of the will of God , and end up empty handed. I dont know how many times I have gotten close to somthing great God was doing and blowed it , because of a bad move. [ Spent it up as it were ] We have a propensity to do that in our growing stages , but there comes a time when it must stop, or life will pass us by and we will miss what God is doing in our lives! The next time you sense your faith is built up, watch how you spend it . Go forth in victory. God bless!!

Manna Again ?

I was reading in Numbers [old testament] the other day and thinking how much our society is like that story. God was miraculously providing heavenly manna for Israel daily,
while they made their journey to the promised land. They began complaining so bad it got Gods attention in a bad way. They wanted to go back to Egypt where the leeks, onions, garlic, and so on. was. They were getting tired of God's blessings and what he provided for them. Their memories were short to the cruel slavery and bondage they had been in. That seems to be where modern America is getting itself into. Tired of Gods blessings and forgetful what our forefathers went through to get this country great. We as a  [whole] need to keep in mind that what took 200 years to build , can be brought down in a few hours . Gods covering and protection has kept war off our soil and that's not a light thing in knowing the capabilities for destruction today. Folks, we need to work while it is yet day, for the night is coming when no man can work. John 9:4  Let us never take Gods manna [blessings] for granted , but always be thankful.

God bless you on your journey !

Remember When God Did Not Change ?

I was thinking the other day how church used to be and how it is today. [ for the most part] Since I am a musician naturally I think a lot in terms of music. I remember when what we call christian music was called Gospel music. There was only one kind of gospel music. Either it was gospel or it wasnt. Of course today we have all kinds of terms from contemporary christian to chrstian rock. Again, I remember when we called the Holy Spirit the Holy Ghost. Someone told me we was to educated to call him the holy ghost. I remember when we used to blush and have shame. That changed also. I see little to no blushing or shame. Jeremiah 6:15 says they lost their blush and shame. I remember when kids were not allowed to get behind pulpits and call themselves preachers and have big positions in the church. But then again the epistles says not to put novices in authority, but its better than having them on the streets right ? I guess if they run your household they might as well run your church , right ? While were at it, I guess its alright to bring the drugs in and party in the church and what have you. I havent met this partying god yet. I Know when disaster hits who I want to pray for me. If necessary I will pray for myself.
I am just to old fashioned to try this new god [ I meant to spell that god without a capital. ] who changes.  I am going to take my chances with the God who does not change . God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. yep  Holy Ghost !
God bless you , and may you serve the true God if your not !

Returning To Your Joy

Psalms 137 :4  How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land ?

If your a singer or musician , you can really relate to this , but it applies to any thing that relates to being out of your element . It was in the time that Israel was taken captive by the Babylonians, and they wanted them to sing songs of Zion.  In other words , they were saying , hey church people , "sing them songs" to us that we heard about .
Have you ever tried  singing or playing music when everything seems to be coming apart in your life ? This is what they were facing.  How can you sing about victory , when your in bondage ? Their singing only reminded them of happier times , when they were not backslidden from their God. They were so depressed they hung their harps in the willow trees , as it were. God originally intended music to be for his Glory, and a time of celebration.  Being in bondage or captivity certainly doesn't make one want to celebrate does it ? What ever the case may be , if  we are in a situation where we do not belong , we are out of our element , and thing's are not going to be effective for our well being .
Has your song lost its joy ? Perhaps your singing it in a strange land.  Return home and your joy will return .

God bless you on your journey !
